BAVARIAN APPLE TORTE

 

CRUST

1/2 cup softened butter                          

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups flour

 

CREAM TOGETHER UNTIL FLUFFY, ADD FLOUR AND BLEND WELL, PRESS INTO 8" SPRING FORM PAN.

 

FILLING

8 ounces softened cream cheese             

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 egg

 

USING HAND MIXER, BLEND UNTIL SMOOTH AND POUR OVER PREPARED CRUST

 

TOPPING

2  cups thinly sliced firm apples

1/3 cup granulated sugar mixed with 1 teaspoon cinnamon

 

PEEL, CORE AND SLICE APPLES, ARRANGE SLICES IN OVERLAPPING DESIGN ON CHEESE.

 

COMBINE SUGAR AND CINNAMON AND SPRINKLE OVER APPLES.

 

BAKE AT 450° F FOR 10 MINUTES.  REDUCE OVEN TO 400° F AND BAKE FOR ANOTHER 25 MINUTES.
