Roux [Pronounced Rŏŏh]

 

A must have for southern cooks! Used to thicken sauces and gravies. Can be stored in the refrigerator for later use.

 

3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

3 tablespoons oil or butter

 

Heat oil or butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add flour… Stir constantly until desired color. [Don’t burn.]
